Biography:
Laron Chapman is a director, screenwriter, actor, and co-producer from Oklahoma with a Bachelor's Degree in Film and Media Studies and a background in journalism and film production. His work spans from reality TV (featured on The Food Network, FOX, and Discovery Channel) to Oklahoma-filmed, Academy Award nominated films like August: Osage County starring Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts, and others.
He made his directorial debut in 2017 with his now multi-award winning feature film, You People (currently streaming on Peacock and Tubi). He also serves as the Head of Pride Programming for the Oscar-qualifying DeadCenter Film Festival, a member of the Oklahoma Film Critics Circle, and a Co-host to The Cinematropolis’ ("Cinematic Schematic") film podcast (on Spotify and Apple Podcast).
Mission Statement
The mission for You People, LLC film production company is to cultivate, elevate, bring awareness to, and celebrate the art and socioeconomic issues affiliated with marginalized groups - especially (but not limited to), the black and 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
